Your role
As a Level Designer (f/m/d) at Chimera Entertainment, you'll be part of a skilled, diverse team of around 75, crafting visually captivating games. Embrace a friendly, professional atmosphere that nurtures growth, as you engage in innovative projects with top-tier collaborators. Your focus: our ongoing masterpiece, "Songs of Silence."

Songs of Silence is a story-rich strategy game set in two distinct fantasy worlds threatened by the all-devouring Silence. The game features a unique mix of turn-based kingdom management, exploration, and hero development, contrasted with short and intense real-time battles.
The kind of stuff you’ll be doing:
  • Designing and prototyping game maps, including layout, terrain, buildings, and environmental elements, that align with the game's strategic mechanics and narrative.

  • Collaborating with game and narrative designers to ensure that levels provide engaging challenges and opportunities for strategic decision-making.

  • Iterating on level designs based on playtesting feedback and internal reviews, balancing gameplay pacing and difficulty.

  • Implementing and scripting gameplay events, triggers, and mechanics within the Unity Engine to enhance level interactivity and immersion.

  • Outline the gameplay experience (landmarks, encounters, flow, rhythm, tension, pacing, variety, etc.).

  • Review and provide feedback on integrated work and gameplay features to achieve quality.

Who we’re looking for:
  • Proven experience as a Level Designer on at least one released PC game in the strategy genre.

  • Proficiency in using Unity Engine and its level design tools to create and implement game environments, mechanics, and events.

  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt during onboarding for an existing project, even during peak production.

  • Strong understanding of gameplay mechanics, player psychology, and how to create engaging and balanced gameplay experiences.

  • Solid grasp of level flow, pacing, and spatial design principles to guide player exploration and interaction.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, communicate design ideas clearly, and incorporate feedback.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail and the ability to iterate and refine designs based on playtesting feedback.

  • A passion and experience for strategy games and a deep interest in exploring innovative ways to enhance player engagement in the genre.

  • Strong communication skills in both written and verbal formats.

  • Passion for playing PC strategy games.

What's in for you?
  • Flat hierarchy in a friendly atmosphere in a flexible working environment

  • A creative, casual, and international workplace right in the heart of Munich

  • Public Transport compensation in Munich (German Ticket)

  • Relocation support

  • Lunch Budget (up to 50 €/month)

  • German Language course (we cover costs up to 75%)

  • Company pension plan, graded according to the length of employment

  • A well-stocked library with books, games, and games consoles

  • Free coffee, drinks, and fruits onsite
