Art Intern (Mandatory Internship) (f/m/d)

Intern / Student, Full or part-time · DE - Munich Office

About Us

You want to make games that matter? Welcome to Chimera Entertainment.

We are an independent game development studio based in Munich, working on PC, console, and mobile games for nearly two decades. Our portfolio includes both original IPs and collaborations with major industry partners. Right now, we’re developing Songs of Silence, a visually striking cross-platform strategy game.

If you’re looking for a mandatory internship (Pflichtpraktikum) in Munich, where you’ll gain real experience instead of just collecting credits, this is your chance. You’ll work on real projects, learn from experienced professionals, and develop skills that will help you take the next step in your career.

Please note: This internship is 100% onsite at our Munich studio.

The kind of stuff you’ll be doing
  • Work directly on game assets – Assist in creating concepts, textures, and in-game elements.
  • Receive mentorship and structured feedback – Work closely with experienced artists who will help develop your skills.
  • Understand art pipelines and production workflows – Get hands-on experience with how assets move from concept to implementation.
  • Polish and optimize artwork – Learn how to refine assets to meet production standards.
  • Assist in organizing and preparing art assets – Contribute to keeping production processes smooth and structured.
  • Support the team with graphic design tasks – Help design layouts, marketing materials, and internal documents.
Your profile:

We are offering this opportunity to students who are required to complete a mandatory internship (Pflichtpraktikum) as part of their studies.

We’re looking for people who:

  • Have a strong artistic sense and can visualize ideas clearly and emotionally.
  • Are comfortable working with Photoshop and interested in improving their skills in digital painting, texturing, graphic design, or concept art.
  • Are adaptable and willing to work in different artistic styles.
  • Have basic familiarity with 3D tools (Blender, 3DS Max, Maya, or Substance Painter) or want to learn.
  • Are curious about game development and eager to understand real game art workflows.
  • Can take feedback, iterate, and improve—because growth comes from learning.
  • Are organized and reliable in handling tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Can communicate effectively in English, since we work in an international team.
  • If you just need an internship to check a box, this won’t be the right fit. If you’re motivated, want to gain real experience, and contribute to actual game projects, we’d love to hear from you.

What's in for you?
  • Hands-on experience – Contribute to real projects and learn about professional game art production.
  • Mentorship from industry professionals – Get direct feedback and guidance from our Art Director and experienced artists.
  • Indie studio culture – Work in a creative, collaborative team with flat hierarchies.
  • A flexible, supportive environment – We believe in learning by doing.
  • 450€ monthly compensation – To support your internship.
  • A well-stocked library – Books, games, consoles—because inspiration comes from many places.
  • Free coffee, drinks, and fruit – Fuel for creativity.
  • A Munich-based studio – Join a diverse, passionate team working on exciting games.
